The Bandon Quilt Guild hosts its eighth-annual œQuilts by the Sea" quilt show at the Farwest Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12, 13 and 14. Quilts by Caroline Halfwassen, winner of a blue ribbon at this year's Coos County Fair, will be among those on display. According to club spokesperson Nancy Morris, last year, about 100 quilts made by members were shown.

Quilts, quilting notions and fabric will be on sale. Raffle tickets for a special quilt will be sold for $1 each. The drawing will be held Cranberry Festival weekend.

The Farwest Hall is located on state Highway 42S about a quarter-mile east of the Highway 101/42S junction. Admission is $1. For more information, call Nancy Morris at 396-5704.

From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, the Ladies Dew Valley Club opens its clubhouse to the public. In addition to displaying a range of quilts, members will be demonstrating quilting and may also show tying techniques.

Tickets will be sold to win the œScholarship Quilt," which will be on view during the day. Besides quilts, dishtowels, pillow cases and other items will be available for purchase. All proceeds go to the upkeep of the clubhouse and to charity.

The clubhouse is located five miles south of Bandon on Highway 101, on the west side of the road across from Dew Valley Lane. Info: Ellen at 347-2398.
