Everything cranberry and then some
Have a great recipe that includes cranberries? Consider entering it in the Cranberry Festival's annual competition!
The VFW Ladies Auxiliary Cranberry Food Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the hall of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3440, on Bates Road, on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12 and 13. Entries will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Sept. 12.
All entries must contain cranberries and be made from scratch. Entrants may submit as many items in any and all categories as they wish. Categories include: main dishes, quick breads, salads, candy, sauces/relish, berries, jam/syrup, juices, cakes, cookies, pies, desserts, diabetic, wine/cordials and additional categories as needed. Children are welcome to enter their own goodies. Judging begins at 1 p.m. on Friday. Ribbons will be awarded upon its completion. The King or Queen of the Kitchen, along with runners-up, will be revealed during the Cranberry Court Coronation and Awards Ceremony, held in the Sprague Community Theater on Friday at 7 p.m.
A bake sale and bazaar will be held in conjunction with the food fair. Proceeds from the bake sale go to fund community activities and scholarships.
