Bandon firefighters invite public to visit new fire station
The public is invited to an open house at the Bandon Rural Fire District's main fire station from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13.
The station is located on the west side of U.S. Highway 101 just south of the Shooting Star Motel. Refreshments will be available, along with souvenirs for children.
œWe'd like to show the community how their tax dollar is working for them," said Stuart Hoggatt, president of the Bandon Firemen's Association.
Firefighters will provide tours of the fire hall that the district has been developing for many years. Structural and wildland firefighting equipment and training materials will be displayed, including the district's recently acquired ladder truck.
In addition to ample storage for fire apparatus and equipment, the new station includes extensive office space, a training room, a dispatcher's room, conference and meeting rooms, kitchen facilities, a board room and a large lobby complete with antique fire engine.
œPlease have an enjoyable festival weekend and come see us on Saturday afternoon," Hoggatt added.
