Memory Walk at City Park Saturday
The Bandon Memory Walk will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12, during the Cranberry Festival, starting at City Park (look for the purple balloons). The walk is slightly less than one mile.
The Bandon Memory Walk is sponsored by Heritage Place Assisted Living and Wellness Center, Umpqua Bank, Bandon True Value Hardware, Bain Insurance Agency and Sterling Savings Bank. Its purpose is to raise awareness and money to help support families and victims of Alzheimer's and to provide for research that will end this disease.
Participants may sign up to walk, sponsor someone else to walk, or make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association through Heritage Place Wellness Center at 1000 Sixth Ave. W. in Bandon. Brochures are available at Winter River Books, Bandon Chamber of Commerce and Heritage Place, or at the City Park on the day of the walk.
Prizes to be awarded include, among others, airplane rides from Coos Aviation for three passengers, two hours of riding at Family 4 Stables, $25 gift certificate from Pony Village Mall, $30 gift certificate for a one-hour pedicure at Bon Vivant, and a crab dinner at Tony's Crab Shack.
Heritage Place also is selling Linda Perine's cinnamon rolls at the event. The rolls can be pre-ordered at $1.25 each or $20 a dozen. Call Kay Heikkila or Linda Perine at Heritage Place, 347-7502, to order.
