Beat the pro at Bandon Dunes
Annual golf challenge Saturday, Sunday
Bandon Dunes Golf Resort will host its annual Cranberry Festival Golf Challenge on Saturday and Sunday of festival weekend.
The popular contest has offered a variety of challenges in past years, including a big money prize for an ace, and always features the ultimate prize ” golf on the world-renowned courses at Bandon Dunes.
This year's event will be held at Shorty's par-3 course at the resort's practice center on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.
For a $10 fee, participants will receive three chances to beat a resort pro in a closest-to-the-pin contest on the No. 2 hole at Shorty's. The hole plays approximately 85 yards, according to Jeff Simonds, head professional at the resort.
The names of those who beat the pro will go into a hat and become eligible for the grand prize drawing for four rounds of golf at one of the resort's three 18-hole courses.
Other golf related prizes will be available during the day, with rules and other details of the contest available at Shorty's on festival weekend.
œWe invite everyone to bring the family, come out and try to beat the pro, and enjoy some good golf and good weather," said Simonds, adding that œopportunities for success are there" in the beat-the-pro contest.
Those who enter the contest are welcome to play the rest of the nine-hole course after they've taken their shots at beating the pro, Simonds added.
Proceeds from the Golf Challenge go to support the Cranberry Festival.
