Many enjoy quilt shows, demos
The Bandon Quilt Guild hosts its ninth-annual œQuilts by the Sea" quilt show at the Odd Fellows Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11, 12 and 13. About 100 quilts, many of them Coos County Fair award winners, will be shown.
Quilts, quilting notions and fabric will be on sale. Raffle tickets for a special quilt will be sold for $1 each. The drawing will be held Cranberry Festival weekend.
The Odd Fellows Hall is located on state Highway 42S about a quarter-mile east of the Highway 101/42S junction. Admission is $1. For more information, call Caroline Halfwassen at 347-2098.
From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, the Ladies Dew Valley Club opens its clubhouse to the public. In addition to displaying a range of quilts, members will be demonstrating quilting and may also show tying techniques.
Tickets will be sold to win the œScholarship Quilt," which will be on view during the day. Besides quilts, dishtowels, pillow cases and other items will be available for purchase. All proceeds go to the upkeep of the clubhouse and to charity.
