Food Fair is all about cranberries
Have a great recipe that includes cranberries? Consider entering it in the Cranberry Festival's annual competition! The Cranberry Food Fair on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11 and 12, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall on Bates Road.
Entries will be accepted from 9 a.m. until noon on Friday, Sept. 11. All entries must contain cranberries and must be made from scratch. Participants may submit as many items in any and all categories as they wish. Categories will be: main dish, quick breads, salads, candy, sauces or relish, berries, jam or syrup, juice, cakes, cookies, pies, desserts, diabetic, wine or cordials. There will also be a children's division. New categories will be created for entries not fitting into any of the existing categories.
Judging will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, and ribbons will be awarded upon completion of the judging. The king or queen will be chosen by a panel of three judges and will be revealed at the festival coronation Friday evening. First and second runners-up will also be chosen. The king or queen will ride in the cranberry parade on Saturday morning. Monetary prizes will be awarded to three winners.
The food fair is hosted by the Ladies' Auxiliary to the VFW Post 3440. Call Joye Olson at 347-9351 for information.
